2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Harvest
The 2005 growing season was mostly cooler than average, which allowed
the grapes to hang longer on the vines without causing the sugar levels
to rise too high too quickly. This allowed the fruit to fully
mature yet keep its crisp acidity, which is the structure for balanced,
age- worthy wines . The grapes were harvested late in the season
due to good weather. Aging in both new and used oak barrels adds a dimension
and richness to the natural flavors from the grapes.
Mendocino County has warm days like Napa Valley and Sonoma County, but
cooler nights, which accentuates the delicate flavor nuances in the
grapes, as well as promoting a refreshing crispness. Our H&W Estate
Vineyard showcases that classic Mendocino County character superbly.

2004 Merlot Harvest
2004 was an early and fast vintage yea r. Bud break was early, and
a moderate spring kept the plants growing with a moderate crop load
set. Summer temperatures were typically warm but without extreme
heat. By mid - August fruit was ripening well, and harvest started
relatively early for our Stone Creek 2004 Merlot . It has good color
with ripe, berry flavors. Aging in both new and used oak barrels
adds a dimension and richness to the natural flavors from the grapes.
Mendocino County has warm days like Napa Valley and Sonoma County,
but cooler night s, which accentuates the delicate flavor nuances
in the grapes, as well as promoting a refreshing crispness. Our
H&W Estate Vineyard showcases that classic Mendocino County character
superbly.
Tasting Notes
Our Stone Creek 2004 Merlot , Mendocino County, has toffee and cinnamon
aromas, with rich black

| cherry, black tea, and dark chocolate flavors
on the palate. The finish has a smooth, velvety texture and lingering
black cherry flavors. It would be delicious with lamb or roast turkey,
pulled pork barbecue, and firm cheeses such as aged cheddar, Grana ,
and aged Monterey Jack. Drink now through 2009.
